Casa degli Olivi is five minutes from Panicale on its own private
road, and is situated in eight acres, including an olive grove and
vineyard.
2003 was our first year of wine making and the production of extra
virgin olive oil.

Panicale
Panicale is situated in the heart of Italy's most beautiful
area. All the seasons offer their own unique delights in weather, food
and festivities. The origins of Panicale are believed to date back to over 2000
BC firstly with herdsmen, followed by Etruscan farmers and then the
Romans. The name derives from Pani Calet "Whats in Pan's Heart"
(Pan was considered the protector of wild nature and woods)
The hill and castle of Panicale were very important to Perugia in the
13th and 14th centuries as they overlook the valleys and Lake Trasimeno
and provided an excellent defense.
It was developed in a circular pattern around three piazzas. When in
Panicale you have the feeling that time has come to a standstill. It's
history of greatness, pride and independence intermingled with wars,
surrounds you, as do it's churches and art, especially that of the great
artists Masolino da Panicale and Pietro Vannucci whose works are on
view in the various churches and in the enchanting Baroque church of
the Archangel Michael.
There are several shops or you can relax and enjoy fine food in a choice
of restaurants. Why not take a box in the delightful "Theatre of
The Sun" which dates back to 1786 , and enjoy the many shows.
In the summer Panicale is famous for it's musical events within the
town. You can sit outside with a glass of wine in the Piazza Umberto
and enjoy a variety of concerts.
There are lovely walks close by , and of course all the beauty and
active fun of Lake Trasimeno which offers all types of water sports;
sailing, fishing etc. together with boat trips to the interesting islands.
There is also the famous Lamborghini Golf Club only five minutes away.
If you are learning Italian or would just like to learn a few phrases
to help during your holiday here, Italian lessons can be arranged, with
a little notice, in the adjoining mediaeval village of Paciano, ten
minutes away, in a privately run school. Alternatively you can have
the advantage of taking private lessons in the comfort of Casa degli
Olivi from one of the writers of 'ITALY' magazine, who lives in the
area.
